No Treble for United Following Final Defeat

Guildford United went down 4-2 to an excellent University of Surrey side who deserved to the lift the League Cup after a scintillating display. Guildford put up a valliant effort with Vin Douthwaite scoring both of the Doots’ goals. First of all to equalise ahead of half-time, with the second only being a consolation.

Surrey took the lead early on, but United weathered the storm and grew into the game before Vinnie heading past the stranded keeper to make it 1-1 before the half. Surrey came flying out of the traps following the second-half whistle and by 65 minutes, GUFC were 4-1 down. Despite a dogged and determined performance that led to Vinnie’s smashing second goal, it wasn’t quite enough on the night.

A huge thank you to the magnificent support that was gratefully received by the players. We move on to the final game of the season, the Cyril West Trophy Final versus Windlesham on 17th May at Ash United.
